Whiz Comics was first published by Fawcett Comics in February 1940. It rather strangely began with issue #2. The reason being that Fawcett Comics had created two black and white pilots to secure copyright and also to show potential advertisers. They were titled Flash Comics and Thrill Comics.
Captain Marvel, created by C. C. Beck and Bill Parker, was in these pages, but at the time was named Captain Thunder. The cover for issue #2 featured Captain Marvel as he made his historic debut.
Apart from Captain Marvel other characters who appeared over the years included: Golden Arrow, Ibis the Invincible, Scoop Smith, Spy Smasher, Lance O'Casey, and Dan Dare.
Whiz Comics ran until June 1953, ending with issue #155.
