Big Shot Comics was first published by Columbia Comics in May 1940. In Issue #30 the title was shortened to Big Shot and this remained the name for the rest of the run.
The title, which ran until issue #104 in August 1949, was an anthology and appearing in the pages were superheroes, district attorneys, crimefighters and many others.
Content for the title included both original stories and also reprints. The newspaper comic strip reprints were courtesy of the McNaught Syndicate and included Charlie Chan, Dixie Dugan and Joe Palooka a popular strip about a heavyweight boxer.
Original characters who debuted in Big Shot's pages included Skyman, Sparky Watts and Spy-Master.
