Welcome to FuryComics.com Romance Collection!
Why not join us in a romantic interlude. Our treat is comics full of love and romance as it used to be.
When Joe Simon and Jack Kirby first launched Young Romance in September 1947, they created a whole new comic genre, the romantic comic. At its peak Young Romance sold a million copies and was by then joined on the newsstands by a whole range of titles from all the major publishers.
By 1950 there were more than 150 romance titles, with names such as My Romance, Sweethearts and Flaming Love. There were also strange cross genre titles published such as Cow Girl Romances.
All the major comic book artists of the period drew for the romance genre such as: Jay Scott Pike, Wally Wood, Matt Baker, Frank Frazetta, Everett Kinstler, Leonard Starr, Alex Toth and John Romita, Sr.
With the introduction of the Comics Code in 1954, the content became blander, but the romantic comics survived until the mid 1970's when changes in public attitude all but ended their reign.
