Fantastic Worlds was first published by Standard Comics under their Visual Editions imprint in September 1952. The title which began at sequence #5 only ran for three issues ending in January 1953. Artists involved in Fantastic Worlds included Art Saaf, Murphy Anderson, Jerome Bixby and Alex Toth.

Alex Toth was a cartoonist who started his career in the comic book industry, but he is best known for his animations for Hanna-Barbera during the 1960s and 1970s. His work included Super Friends, Space Ghost, The Herculoids, and Birdman.
