Contact Comics was first published by Aviation Press in July 1944. The series ran for just 12 issues ending in July 1946.
Regular features in Contact Comics were: Blazing Venus, Tommy Tomahawk and Golden Eagle.
The covers were drawn by L.B. Cole. Other artists involved included: Nina Albright, Carmine Infantino, Harvey Kurtzman, Rudy Palais and Alvin Hollingsworth.
Hollingsworth was one of the first African-Americans to work in comic books. He eventually left the field to concentrate on a career as a fine art painter. Alvin Hollingsworth was active in the 1960's Civil Rights Movement and from 1980, until his retirement in 1998, he taught art as a professor at City University of New York.
