Racket Squad was a television crime series, that starred Reed Hadley as Captain John Braddock, a detective working for the California Police Department in San Francisco. It originally aired from 1950 to 1953.
The show was sponsored by Philip Morris, the cigarette manufacturer and because of this there was product placement throughout the series, including a pack of Philip Morris cigarettes on Braddock's desk.
The show was a dramatization of various confidence tricks. The stories were allegedly based on real cases investigated by police departments and other United States agencies. Guest stars included: Jackie Coogan, who would play Uncle Fester in the Addams Family and Will Geer who played Grandpa Walton in The Waltons.
At the end of each episode, Captain Braddock gave advice to viewers on how to avoid becoming the victim of confidence trickers.
