Crime Reporter was first published by St. John Publications in August 1948. It would have a very short run, ending in October of the same year, with issue #3.
The covers of issue #2 and issue #3 were drawn by Matt Baker, famous for his 'Good Girl Art'.
Crime Reporter was an attempt by St. John Publications to capitalize on the increasingly popular comic book crime genre. The stories were in fact reprints originally published by Harry 'A' Chesler.
St. John Publications fared better with a another crime based comic book Authentic Police Cases which was first published in February 1948 and lasted 38 issues finally folding in 1955.
