In 1953 Star Publications 'Startling Terror Tales' issue #11 was renamed Terrifying Tales. The series mainly features stories of Rulah Jungle Goddess, drawn Jack Kamen. These are reprints that were originally published by Fox Comics.

Virtually all the covers for Star Publications were drawn by the company's owner L.B. Cole. He was a legendary cover artist, who worked in the comic book industry for many years. His use of bright colors, what he referred to as 'poster colors', was designed to grab attention. His work is now much sought after and it is an oddity that although the company's comics mainly contained reprints, they command higher prices than the originals purely down to L. B. Cole's cover work.

L. B. Cole's work was one of the targets, after the publication of Dr. Fredric Wertham's book 'Seduction of the Innocent' caused a shake-up in the comic book industry.
