Eerie is a one-shot horror comic book published in January 1947 by Avon Periodicals.
The book is a landmark as it is considered the first stand-alone horror comic book and helped to establish the horror comic genre. Amongst those involved in its creation were Joe Kubert and Fred Kida. The book has six horror stories along with a two-page humorous story.
It took another few years before Eerie #1 was republished in 1951 and the series begun. The title ran for a total of seventeen issues. It ceased publication with issue #17 in August 1954; in fact to be more accurate it morphed into issue #18 of Strange Worlds which was published in October 1954.
