Welcome to FuryComics.com Horror Collection.
This section holds a feast of spine tingling tales, that you hopefully will not be too scared to read!
After the end of World War II the reign of the comic book superheroes was in decline. New genres were gaining popularity including: westerns, romance, science fiction and horror.
During the 1950's, as publishers battled for circulation, titles became more and more controversial. As can be seen with our crime and horror collections these two genres became increasingly gory. This led to a a moral outcry from some sections. It was to appease this backlash that the self-regulating Comics Code Authority was created. The subject matter was toned down, which whilst it took the heat off the publishers did not go down well with their readership and soon many of their titles folded.
The comics in this section include 'Eerie' a one-shot horror comic book considered to be the birth of the horror genre and also 'Adventures Into the Unknown', which was the first regularly produced horror comic. There are many other titles where you can witness the rise and fall of Golden Age gore!
