Space Mouse made his first appearance in Space Mouse issue #1, published by Avon Periodicals, in April 1953.

The stories, drawn by Frank Carin, involved Space Mouse and his girlfriend Millie in their comic adventures, as they fly through the solar system.

The title lasted just five issues, ending the next year. However, Space Mouse did still made a few occasional appearances in Avon titles, until his last known appearance in Peter Rabbit issue #33 in June 1956.

There have been other characters named Space Mouse including, a 1959 Universal Studios cartoon that featured two mice and a cat named Hickory, Dickory, and Doc. Dell Comics produced a Space Mouse character in the early to mid 1960's and Walter Lantz featured a Space Mouse in his cartoon titled 'The Secret Weapon' produced in 1960.
